Sweden announced to close its embassy in Beirut due to regional tensions

 The European country Sweden has announced to close its embassy in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, in view of the regional tension.

According to the news agency, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs instructed the diplomatic staff in Beirut to go to Cyprus.

Speaking to Swiss Radio, the Swedish Foreign Minister said that the Swedish citizens in Lebanon should leave as soon as possible.

He said that the decision to close the embassy has been initially made for the month of August, the closure of the embassy may be extended in view of the security situation.He said that there is a plan to temporarily move the embassy in Lebanon to another place, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the situation.
